2010-10-07 17:48:00 | What email client? if Outlook search for the .pst file if outlook express then it will be .wab file | gary67 (56) | |
2010-10-07 17:49:00 | That depends on what program you used for your emails. :pf1mobmini:

2010-10-07 21:05:00 | I forgot to say I'm using "Outlook Express" So how can I get the .wab expanded to get my old stuff? | lostsoul62 (16011) | |
2010-10-07 21:22:00 | The WAB is the Address book. You just import back to Outlook express. But, if you are going to be using Win 7 it's different again as Win 7 does not have Outlook express. | Snorkbox (15764) | |
2010-10-07 21:30:00 | Windows live mail (g.live.com) can import directly from an Outlook Express database no worries. Instructions here (windows.microsoft.com). You can continue to use WLM if you like but I'd recommend switching to thunderbird once everything's imported - TB can import straight from WLM.

2010-10-07 21:34:00 | True. But it helps to know what is going to be used on the new computer rather than just attempting mind reading or just a wild guess. | Snorkbox (15764) | |
2010-10-08 03:31:00 | .wab is the address book in Outlook .pst are the emails. There's also .dbx used in Outlook dotwhat.net Hmmm .wab is outlook express not outlook. When I export from outlook I always choose the option to include all subfolders then my backup .pst has the emails, address book, calender and task list

2010-10-08 03:55:00 | pst contains both emails & contacts (address's). You dont have to export pst, its allready there . Just copy the original if you want a backup In outlook , you also want to backup/import the NK2 file. Disturbing how many people rely on autocomplete as their ONLY way to save contacts/email adresses.
