1142134 2010-10-06 08:58:00 I'm looking at upgrading my 80gb Seagate hard drive to something with a it more space.

Would this hard drive be any good?

1142135 2010-10-06 09:06:00 Good? Absolutely but on the $$ side. For under $100 perhaps you could get a 500GB.

For Western Digital, you don't really need the black one, you could get a blue one even the green one is ok if it's not too intensive.

1142136 2010-10-06 09:11:00 I would get it from somewhere else. You can get a 1 TB for that price now Speedy Gonzales (78)

Where do I find a 500GB for under a $100?

What do you mean by the black one green or blue? Is that the colour?

1142139 2010-10-06 09:16:00 That drive is a SATA drive. We need to know a bit more about your setup.
Is your old drive IDE PATA or SATA?
Are you upgrading a desktop or laptop?
If laptop, what make and model? If desktop, what motherboard?

In any event, I wouldn't pay anything like $119 for a 250GB drive, but that is another matter.

1142140 2010-10-06 09:19:00 You guys are fast tonight!

How about $75 incl, freight free, from Computer Lounge?

Still need to make sure SATA is suitable.

Black is faster, next is blue and slower still but better heat control and more green to run is the green model.

Refer to WD site for the short explanation.

IMO if you just doing normal stuff, get the green one, cheaper to run, runs cooler and cheaper. Esp if you system is not that new going by your 80GB HDD.
