868647 2010-03-20 08:08:00 I imagine there will be a few folks here who have "been there done that" with self-install of the sat receiver and dish.

Do you have to be a rocket scientist to DIY? I have absolutely no experience with this stuff.

I'm thinking of the Globo 4100C receiver.

Please share your Freeview jewels with me :)

Thanks all.

868648 2010-03-20 08:15:00 Plug the sat receiver into the tv using cable supplied
Look out to the North west mount sat dish post use level to make sure its straight up and down. Get sat cable and 2 f type connectors from dse for cable from dish to receiver.
Use a sat finder or on-screen graphics to tune elevation and azimuth for Optus D1 satellite.
Done burger if an intellectualy impaired person like me can get freeview up and going in less than an hour anyone can.

868649 2010-03-20 08:33:00 i also have a question about freeveiw.............

does it use the same dish as a sky dish? as i have a dish on the roof, and im presuming its a sky dish.
does that mean i would just need a receiver box thingy? and way it goes? cos the dish is surely pointing in the correct direction?

im tired of fuzzy bunny ears pictures on my telly.:(

I just cant afford the luxury of sky . i just want more than one fuzzy channel .

the dish was already here long before us, and ive never worried about it, it just sits on the shed . . . . . . . . . . .

868653 2010-03-20 10:01:00 Should be able to get sat freeview anywhere in NZ unless you are living in a cave.
I say that because I setup a small sat dish for freeview in my camper never had a prob getting a signal.
I am not sure if the sky LNB is ok for freeview but I am sure my learned colleagues in here will know.

868654 2010-03-20 10:04:00 If you are a DIY and techical type of person, then you won't have any problem installing. robbyp (2751)
868655 2010-03-20 19:08:00 It really is a trivial task. If you use toaster stores or Free View as suppliers it can be fiercely expensive though. R2x1 (4628)
