867721 2010-03-16 21:36:00 One for Gary et al to answer - how hard is it to install your own kitchen? I'm pretty sure the walls/floor are square and true (they will be when I've re-lined anyway). We may go flat-pack, but I'm not sure if this would be easier or harder than a regular install?

Or am I just better to bite the bullet and pay a joiner/builder to do it?

Indeed - finding it in the first instance was necessary - SWMBO was quite happy to show me where it was, but dragging me by the ear was quite excessive I thought.

867725 2010-03-16 23:51:00 Hi nofam. Re: I'm pretty sure the walls/floor are square and true (they will be when I've re-lined anyway).

Will probably be the first ever if you achieve that. Easier to worry about squaring up all the boxes which comprise the kitchen fittings and then adding trim to match the walls and floor.

867727 2010-03-17 00:36:00 True, done one last weekend and i am not great in that area but it isnt difficult, just lots of putting in removing to modify put back in etc. Hardest part might be getting one that is going to fit without too much butchering Gobe1 (6290)
867728 2010-03-17 06:26:00 Once you have decided what you want go get it professionally drawn up by a kitchen designer, then you will know where the gremlins are likely to be. It's not that hard to install a kitchen if you have some DIY skills. Knowing who you work for some of the staff must know a few trades type people. If you have any specific questions PM me and I'll try to answer them gary67 (56)

867730 2010-03-17 06:33:00 We get our Lowes or Home Depot to draw up the kitchen with their CAD and they think they've made the sale . They even send a salesperson out to make sure you are accurate measuring .

Then just go to the OTHER store with that drawing and buy the cabinets ready-made and install them yourself . Both stores know this happens and they kinda wink at it when it happens .

I - of course - would never do that - nor would I advise anyone to do it either .

We never had this conversation . Isn't this the Australian Kangaroo Enlightenment Society and Walkabout Freemasons' site?

Oops! My bad!
