| 868910 | 2010-03-22 08:28:00 | I am in Wellington but we dont' upgrade that often. There is a P3 laptop with a DVD drive but someone's using that after their PC went bonkers. Looks like this year might be broken parts incl a Sony laptop that doesn't power up and a few other bits lying around ... OTOH, if you need a PCI 56k dialup modem or a 10BaseT 10Mbits network card (PCI as well), give me a yell. They are just waiting for eDay. :) |

Hopefully someone will be able to come to the party ... I have various computers too old to be of use but capable of running XP. I will try to whip something working together for you and get back to you. I'm in Wellington. Only problem is I'm very busy right now and probably can't do it till Thursday at the earliest. Also have sent you a PM re a suggested source for the used computers you wish to buy. |

| 868916 | 2010-04-18 01:59:00 | I suggest you try everything on dialup before you go through with this - the internet is not designed for dialup anymore & the kid is not going to keep his interest in IT if he spends more time waiting than working. Is it possible to let the kid stay after school sometimes to use the school computers while you do your lesson planning? |
