868680 2010-03-20 08:34:00 Hey guys, got a project that I'm starting. Not sure yet whether or not my current rig will go into it but if it all goes well then it probaly will.

Atm I only have what I've designed in sketchup.

Parts I have...
- Hard drive bays
- 5.25 bays
- Mobo tray

Parts to get
- 360mm radiator (to replace the 240mm in my current rig)
- graphics block if I decide to add graphics to the loop
- Brushed alley (will get what I can laser cut)

Pics of idea...

Keen for comments so far. Few things I'm not sure about yet like whether or not to squeeze the extra hose in there to cool GPU as well. Not sure exactly how I will fit the pump in yet either.

Motherboard tray will slide out to give access to cables underneath. Hard drives will be accessible by pulling a side off. May have to put a fan in behind them as well because there wont be any air flow past them but there will be a grill on the back so that might be enough.

I'm going for as quiet as possible, and originally small as well but we'll see about that lol. The current overall dimensions are 430mmx400mmx250mm (WxDxH)

Watch this space

Cheers

868683 2010-03-20 08:44:00 sketchup is the easiest programme ever. Downloaded it this morning and figured it all out. Only reason pump isnt there is cos its buried deep within my rig so couldnt get measurements. But according to swiftecs dimensions on their site I should have heaps of room to work in there.

Also not sure what to do with the front, it needs more character...

I average about a case a build with the exception of my cm690. The only problem I can see with changin mobo is I might have to move the sliders that the mobo sits in a bit. But Im guessing the i7 gear will last me at least 12 months so not too worried ;)

Edit: You edited your post, now I look like im talkin **** lol

868688 2010-04-01 09:28:00 Right I have started making progress, havent spent much time on it cos been busy but hopefully will over the weekend. Almost finished the CAD drawings for the lasercutter man who said he will do it as soon as I give him the drawings.

Mobo tray is 3mm clear acrylic. Still got to make the slider but otherwise its 90% finished. Will try get pics up tomorrow.

Problem I'm facing atm is mounting hard drives, not sure what I'm gonna do there. Have had a look at the different cages. Ill even post links!

The problem is I only have about 100mm to play with. So I think the plan is to make brackets similar to the scythe setup but just mount 3 hard drives. I currently have 4 drives but can chuck one and hide (or not!) a SSD in there somewhere.

Anyway thats where its at. Hopefully end of next week this thread will have something in it.

868689 2010-04-01 10:12:00 An SSD you can pretty much put anywhere with a strip or two of velcro tape. HDD probably likewise, but heat dissipation might become a problem with velcro tape. qazwsxokmijn (102)
