No wonder they persist. Every week almost there is a news article somewhere, yet these people seem oblivious and pay out.

Even if you did believe the "Spark" bs, the money in your bank should be a huge clue.

1456519 2018-12-12 21:45:00 I don't understand how these scammers aren't more frequently caught and severely dealt with. With all the money they make surely it can be tracked to it's destination.

But as for this unfortunate couple, Nothing about that story made the scam seem remotely believable to me. People need to be more sceptical.

1456520 2018-12-12 21:57:00 I read this only coz I thought it might be a genuine hard-luck story. Maybe someone clever and with common-sense got done. Could happen to anyone.

I got as far as 'send $15k to Poland' and stopped.

Dumbass.

Why? It's not a robbery. People voluntarily hand over money to them..

I showed aged computer illiterate mum the story, even she could see things wrong with the scam story....

1456522 2018-12-13 03:27:00 It might not be a robbery but it's still a crime to scam people out of their money.
But what I'm really getting at is it must be possible to track the money and see who ends up with it, at least some of the time, and it feels like they don't even try.

1456523 2018-12-13 06:58:00 AND these are the types of scams that the media are good at calling HACKED -- They are NOT hacked, they are scammed, departing with their money through deception. wainuitech (129)
1456524 2018-12-13 07:29:00 We all know the old saying:

"a fool and his money are soon parted"

no different these days.

1456525 2018-12-13 17:15:00 I'd like to see theses scam emails being able to be reported to our ISP's and then the ISPs banning all incoming traffic from the sender, even if it is an email server.
That way the email servers will be more selective in which customers they accept.

They can't force an overseas bank to refund money.
That's why.

What gets me is there were so many things wrong with the story, and these things are in the news (and on the net) every week, yet these people didn't get any clue? And say oh it was so clever, that's why we went along with it?
Really?

Because the scammers are from some 3rd world country where officials can be paid to look the other way.
Every now & then there is a token arrest.

Even in NZ , we do bugger all with crims in general, cops often dont follow up on complaints & reports of crime .

So you would be happy to have your email permanently blacklisted because of something someone else in NZ did then ? Thats would it amounts to.
And ban all incoming emails from many countries
