| 1454567 | 2018-10-19 20:04:00 | Do doing a search for this, seems to be a common problem with dells. I have 2 dell laptops. One is a Latitude E6530 running win10 pro and the other is a Latitude running win7 pro. In the last week, both have occasionally decided to stop charging while plugged in. I can get around this by swapping the power adapters to force them to charge. just unplugging and replugging in doesn't change it. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

I can get around this by swapping the power adapters to force them to charge The Dells sometimes wont charge if you are using non Dell chargers. The Dell chargers have a chip in them that the laptops detect, if you try to use a Non Dell charger, it cant find the chip and sometimes wont charge, but will run off the charger alone. |

I'm just wondering if Windows is getting confused between the two adapters and refusing to charge? | 1454570 | 2018-10-20 03:09:00 | It is quite hard to understand your situation, is the charger getting too hot that it stops charging? This would be a sign that 1 or more of the batteries inside the pack maybe having a hard time charging. The fact you changed the charger, maybe indicative of such a sign. The OS knows very little about your adapter being used, it gets it's information from the battery management system built inside the battery which handles the overcharging and overheating situations. I would probably refurbish your battery, doing it yourself will cost about a third of replacing the battery pack if you have the tools and you could also go for higher capacity to give you longer usage. This could throw the battery management system's accuracy out but it's worth the extra hours you can gain. I normally refurbish my battery packs as soon as there's indication of them not charging fully or not lasting long (3 years usually). Looking at your battery pack, it is 6 Cells arranged to get 11.1V 5200mAH. Depending on length the configuration maybe 2 sets of 3 batteries joined. So the batteries used are 18650 3.7v @ 1800mAH. |

| 1454572 | 2018-10-20 20:02:00 | I'm A bit curious. As Kame says one battery charger is for 3.7 volt. The other is 11.1? This should be written on the label on the backs of each, charger. The same info should be on the backs of the computers. Have you got the right one into each. The 3.7 volt will never charge the 11.1v the charging voltage is too low. Also the 11.1 volt charger may be too high for the 3.7v battery, over charge it & kill it. I assume you have checked this. Do you have a multi voltmeter? If so what is the output from each charger plug PJ |

| 1454574 | 2018-10-23 21:18:00 | Yeah, the batteries are each about a year old. The older one is a work laptop, so I'll just get them to change the battery and see if that helps things. If it does, I might see if I can get one at cost price for the other laptop. Thanks for the suggestions all. |
