| 1454375 | 2018-10-13 06:33:00 | I've only used Virtualbox myself so I can't compare with others. Virtualbox has been just fine for me. Unfortunately, your hardware specs are very low, especially only 2Gb memory. You have to allocate a chunk of ram for the virtual machine to use, so 1Gb would be about bare minimum for just about any OS these days. It will only use the allocated memory while the virtual machine (guest OS) is running, so you do get it back again when the guest OS quits. The host OS needs ram for its own use so you can't allocate too much for the guest OS. Another thing is whether the CPU can actually do virtual processing (I forget what it's called). If it can't do that you aren't going to get very far. It'll be interesting to see how you get on with it. |

| 1454378 | 2018-10-13 07:02:00 | It depends whether by "processor" it means the physical CPU (almost all desktops, laptops have ONE of these, server machines can have several) or the number of "cores" the CPU has. In your case your Pentium has Hyper Threading (HT) so it has two cores. If you run your System info tool that shows the CPU usage in a graph (I can't remember what it's called in Mint Cinnamon) if it shows two threads (Core1 and Core2) you have two virtual cores (but one physical CPU). I have a desktop with an Intel Core-i5 CPU which has four physical cores but it is still one physical CPU. Make sense? My explanation might be not so good. |

In the specs provided it says the CPU has HT which stands for Hyper-Threading (whatis.techtarget.com) Described in that link. Thats doesn't mean the CPU is virtual Capable. Seriously though, a Pentium with such a small amount of memory even if it would support a VM WILL really be struggling ( it will also bring linux to a crawl), it will be so slow it would almost be un-usable. |
