I Have a site hosted with another company, but created and make any changes myself, so its only hosted. (I'm no way a web designer) :) You need to decide do you want to design a site or let someone else do it, you can transfer your current one if its doing what you require. |

2018-10-13 10:41:00 | I use crazydomains for domain names only too, if the price is right. I do recommend them however since they have always been excellent. My hosting requirements however is not near as simple as your requirements seem as I have a cloud VPS from a german? company due to needing lower costs as I mainly develop for the web rather than create sites that are meant to generate traffic so it's just an expense for me that I would like to keep low. You can find lower prices if you hunt around but if you're not bothered by it, having them handle everything for you is a good option too. Some of the more popular overseas hosts are godaddy, 1&1, bluehost and hostgator just to name a few.

2018-10-13 23:02:00 | Those are some really bad reviews. Even from companies I know about. Very few people who have positive experiences will leave them a review. It does seem to be poor if you ask them to build your site. That I understand as you have so many designers with varying levels of skill that looking at the price paid of around AU$400 is to me, low end and probably script based so I am not sure what people would expect. I have friends who charge around US$3k for custom designed sites, so it's a huge difference. Those who are more experienced with DIY probably have less problems. So will you be building the site yourself or having them do it? I haven't seen much mention of downtime although losing data should not occur unless they do not do backups for shared hosting. Anyways, you should keep your own backups, no excuses there. My experience has been good with them but again it's only for nz domain names. Only once I had to sort out my discount not being applied and they fixed it promptly. I'm also free to transfer my domains if they do start going downhill now that I see ownership has changed.

2018-10-14 20:27:00 | Keep in mind that some of these cheap hosting sites arnt based in NZ & have no NZ Office . Thats not an issue unless you need to contact them to get issues sorted out, then you might have some real issues with the usual overseas based help desk & language issues I have had some real issues with Crazy (a client signed up with them), trying to get things setup as they should have been from day 1. Spend some more $, sign up to a NZ based service, with a real NZ based help desk .

2018-10-20 21:08:00 | I had one site with them for a while but they allocate such small amount of CPU on the cheaper plans that navigating the back end of bigger CMS's is painful. I've switched to cloudways in the states. Good bang for buck and heaps of resources if you are willing to do a little extra admin. For a local company my recommendation is myhost. Our work websites are hosted on them and they have been great. Only "gripe" is that they take security pretty seriously so are quick to shut your site down if something is out of place. | hueybot3000 (3646) | |
