But they don't work in your car, or in another town, or another country!

I kept my landline but have a small query on cell phones. I also have a cell phone but if I wish to find somebody's cell phone number or address, how do I go about it? By landline no prob - look up phone book or google.

1456415 2018-12-15 02:11:00 If you want someones mobile number, you pretty much have to ask them for it. You could check the phone book, you can actually list a mobile number in there. But nobody does.

I used to like being in the phone book so friends and family could contact me, now it's just another way to get unsolicited advertising and scams.

With mobile, you can block numbers including, partial-prefixes, and contacts. Plus assigning ringtones, so you know who's calling, and hence decide whether to answer or call back later. Useful if you have pesky family members, that want me to do something or just want to chat too much.

Indian chap I worked for showed me a little trick - to use a pre-arranged time for a mobile call as a message/signal. So don't answer the mobile call, but to call back via landline, to save costs. Though depends what business phone plan, if savings are significant.

I think Jacinda Ardern keeps lots of mobile phone numbers.
