Airbus loses out on that score, big time :) In the last two years I have had three flights to and from Perth in a 787. I couldn't take my eyes off the wings, and wondering how they generated sufficient lift - they are so different from other planes. It is a bit unnerving seeing how they move in flight as well. I also like the design of the front of the aircraft. It was about time Boeing ditched the out-dated box shape of the earlier nose designs, and went on to this elegant shape. The whole plane is elegant now. One flight between here and Perth was on an old Portuguese dunger of a charter plane, and it was like going back to the days of the DC3. I was with two of my young grandsons on that flight, and to say they were disappointed would be an understatement. Fortunately AirNZ stuffed up yet again and we were re-routed on our return to NZ via ChCh instead of Auckland, so we said hasta la vista to the Portuguese dunger and the lads got to fly home on their Dream plane. Pity one of them barfed all over a fellow passenger, but you get that on the big trips! Dodgy hamburger from Perth seemed to be the cause. |
