1143268 2010-10-10 10:09:00 Got a fright when I installed Spybot on my new computer last night and ran it. It came up with about 15 items to delete, including one delightfully named 'Porno-Popup'.

I always had Spybot and Adaware on my old computer and never found much of consequence, but I am the only user of this computer and I know I haven't strayed to the dark side or even been to a questionable site so tht was not a pleasant experience.

Adaware goes on next and I'll be interested to see what that brings up. Until last night my only protection so far has been Microsoft Essentials and Malwarebytes.

Cheers

I wouldn't bother with AdAware. Found it's not as good as it used to be. Spybot and Malware Bytes should be enough.

1143270 2010-10-10 20:17:00 +1 for pctek ... some people suggest that Spybot isn't that good, however, I've found it finds some things that others don't.

And Billy ... going by some of the jokes you post, I have to wonder whether the "dark side" hasn't visited you :D

I would also suggest running Super Antispyware (in my sig) there have been countless time I run Malwarebytes,> Spybot> then Super, and it finds items the other two have missed.

1143272 2010-10-10 23:25:00 Just too good spybot, and I have always used - but I have read on other forums, people moaning about it's outdated interface, and no official portable version (but can be done). I just wish it had a pause button though, since it seems to scan over a million items. kahawai chaser (3545)
