| 869656 | 2010-03-24 09:23:00 | I'm looking at buying this media player and there is one question about it that I don't seem to be able to find an answer to. The media player has USB and ethernet ports and is made to connect to a HDD via both or either of these ports. My question is this; if I connected an external HDD via a USB enclosure to this device and then networked it to my PC, would I be able to access the USB HDD from my PC? |

I had two 1.5TB WD My Book drives, both with the same name (My_Book), and it buggered up the sharing :p Changed the name of one and it was fine chillingsilence.wordpress.com |

That buggered me up for a while because my inner geek was busting to get complicated. The first thing it did when connected to the interweb was update it's self, about 4 times, different updates each time. Plays fine, never skipped a beat. If it has been left on for a while then it needs to be restarted as it locks up. I do have problems with my shares but once again, I think this is more my inner geek asserting it's self more than an issue with the unit. Worth the money? Yep :punk EDIT: Oh yeah... Youtube steams fine. Typing in the search with the remote sucks. |

Yeah we're banned from a lot of things but doesn't mean we don't find a way. My Sony Bravia plays nearly everything directly over the network but I must admit not having Matroska playing capability is a pain, and a WDTV Live might be worth it just for that. |
