2010-03-23 22:02:00 | I attended a training course on dec 16, met the criteria (because the only way to fail is to not turn up) and was awarded the unit standards. I have received the certification from the training orginisation to say I passed yet the units have never been registered with the NZQA so in my mind the bit of paper is worthless. Its like getting a drivers license without anyone ever entering it into the system. The other issue is that these credits get consolidated into a real qualification when you reach a certain level, this can't happen when the bastards aren't registering them. A couple of years back when I created a student account at the NZQA I discovered that much of the training I had done in the years before had never been registered (and when I contacted these training providers they refused to register due to the amount of time that had passed), So I encourage everyone to have a look at the NZQA site and see if their training has been recorded. Its a matter for concern. Anyway, Back to the current situation, I have sent off 5 or 6 emails asking about the status of the credits earned in Dec, I was pretty much ignored apart from a single email telling me they would look into it and get back to me. No one ever got back to me. A couple of days ago I wrote them another email stating I was going to lay a complaint with the NZQA (I have no idea if they would give a damn) and finally received a response. They informed me that I was being unreasonable, Queried why I would even want my credits registered in an unreasonable time ( I mean ***) Informed that there is no delay, and btw it maybe 6 more months before they are registered, and that...wait for it, It has nothing to do with them and isn't there problem. In fact, there is no problem except I'm complaining. However because I'm being so unreasonable they will query if the process can be fast tracked. **Bangs head against wall** One of the worst things about this country is not the crap service we get, But that these *******s insist its actually great service.

2010-03-24 01:39:00 | That sucks . :( About seven or eight years ago I did a course at work, passed everything and got a few pages listing all the NZQA unit standards that I now had . When I did a count up I noticed several units missing from the course that I had just done and asked my boss to look into it . He did, twice, and said they would put them on the next list but they never did . I got sick of badgering my boss about it and gave up when I got no response from them myself so I never did get them listed . Even though those units won't be of any use to me now it was the principle that bothered me . I had done the hard yards and wanted something to show for it . Get on their back and don't get off until you get what you are entitled to .

2010-03-24 02:09:00 | Pretty much everything that training provider has told you is bs. All they need to do is: 1. first get off their fat arses and follow the requirements of registration and accreditation for all training providers. 2. log on to the NZQA website for providers and register your results over the internet (that would take them about 5 minutes max), or 3. send a wee email or letter or spreadsheet to NZQA with your results. You can be sure that you are not alone - that provider will be behind in registering other results as well for other candidates. One thing you could do is look up their latest audit report from NZQA to see if this is an identified problem with that provider. Go to: www.nzqa.govt.nz and look up the provider according to their region. Then click on the link to the provider. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you should find an audit report or an External quality assurance report in .pdf format. Not sure if NZQA still do it, but they used to list the audit cycle for each provider. If the provider is on a 1 year cycle, you can be sure they are on a tight rein, and there are problems. If you can't be arsed doing that, you could lay a complaint with NZQA. If the provider is a polytechnic/institute of technology, you could also lay a complaint with ITPQ in Wellington - Institute of Techology and Polytechnics Quality. They have delegated authority from NZQA to manage that lot. I think three months is unreasonable. Mind you, they might have sent the results to NZQA who are taking their time to list them.

2010-03-24 02:12:00 | So this course is NZQA accredited? Then I would kick up a stink, make a huge fuss and hound them until it's registered. When I did my Polytech PC qual, it was great the first 2 years, then they decided they wanted to be a Uni and have it as a Degree course and changed it in the 3rd year. So my 3rd year never got NZQA because it hadn't been organised at that point. **&&^% annoying.

2010-03-24 02:20:00 | So this course is NZQA accredited? (snip) It must be NZQA accredited or they wouldn't be awarding unit standards.

2010-03-24 06:51:00 | NZQA are useless . They lost my results notice for my L2 last year, so I emailed them and asked what had happened, they replied that they had issued (and I quote) a "search request" for a piece of paper . :annoyed: 2 weeks later I still hadn't heard anything so I emailed them back asking why the hell they couldn't just print off another one . :annoyed: It arrived 3 days later .
