2010-03-21 23:13:00 | My Okta Touch phone (Windows Mobile 6) just went back an hour for daylight saving. WTF? | Tony (4941) | |
2010-03-21 23:29:00 | So your cheap phone didn't have the latest DLS update? Who's fault is that?

2010-03-22 02:09:00 | What were you expecting your phone to do? Unless it has an auotmatic DLS adjustment programmed, of course it will have changed yesterday. New Zealand has extended its period of DLS by two weeks for this and subsequent years. How was your telephone to know the difference? Is this answer a bit more intelligent for you? :)

2010-03-22 02:11:00 | I assume even Windows Mobile has similar patches to those available to PCs... Sounds like it hasn't been applied - still a couple of weeks to go before we go back (www.dia.govt.nz). There's always the chance that MS haven't actually got a DLS patch for WinMob6....

2010-03-22 03:08:00 | How was your telephone to know the difference? Most phones (mine included) update their time from the telco, so as long as the telco has updated their DLS rules the phone will know the correct time to go back. (It may not go back at exactly 3am however.)

2010-03-22 03:23:00 | Many phones offer telco time updates as an option. Some people do not think that is necessarily a great scheme, so opt to do it the old fashioned manual way. Of course, if it's xt we're discussing, it is unlikely indeed that they even know what year it is. ;)

(It may not go back at exactly 3am however.)That is what I would have been expecting, I think. It is not a big deal - I was just a bit surprised. |

2010-03-22 03:55:00 | Some of the more sophisticated phones (the Okta might almost scrape into this category, despite its WinMob OS) have the option to "Use Network time" or "Use Local Time" - yours may be set to this latter, with the OS not aware that Dept of Internal Affairs has changed the DLS changeover date... | johcar (6283) | |
