| 869293 | 2010-03-23 09:24:00 | Why are there so many young solo parents (esp. mums) out there in NZ? There must be something that's not quite right in our society. It's a social problem which the govt got to tackle. | bk T (215) | ||
| 869294 | 2010-03-23 09:57:00 | Social Welfare is meant to be a safety net, not a featherbed. The mystery to me is why so many honest deserving cases get an extremely raw deal out of our social welfare system, when on the other hand there are numerous beneficiaries exploiting the system at an unacteptable cost to the taxpayer. New Zealand must be one of the few countries where beneficiary is considered to be an occupation. |

If it was a pet you would get it fixed, so why so many single Mums for some it's lack of leg crossing, for others it's a way of getting more from the DPB so they don't have to work |

They must feel like pariahs at times. Gary, it has been over 2000 years since a star was seen in the East and three wise men travelled across for the event. |

| 869300 | 2010-03-23 19:29:00 | I've worked with many mothers in the office. This is senior positions or even managers. Tell them hey why don't they suddenly call it quits and go onto the DPB, lol or maybe be a non working parent while the other worked. Dunno why some people wants that thing so much, I mean hey, it should be short term. It seems to be NZ has a right to have children and if they cannot deal with it, taxpayers need to bail them out. I got many problems too, why doesn't the taxpayers help me out :annoyed: Re: immigration. There is a understanding that while NZ is v green, many people (that I know) prefer to migrant to the USA or Canada or England, but they choose NZ because it is easier. Again generally one of the factors they consider is when the person gets old what sort of pension scheme is available and if I lose my job or get injured what aid is available. I'm not single-ing out NZ but if they go to the Canada or USA or NZ that those are the factors they consider. Of course they agree, if you wanna make money, NZ is not the place to be but NZ does have a more laid back life and more welfare. |
