2010-10-11 05:58:00 | Not sure if I should be posting this here but anyway. I am a Windows person, not a mac person, and I'm wanting to buy a new laptop or tower. I am a web and graphics designer, so I need one with some good grunt, preferably Windows 7. I will be running programs like photoshop, After effects, etc etc, so will probably need to be a 64-bit. can any of you give me any ideas as to a good computer to get?

2010-10-11 06:01:00 | well you said no macs, but macs are very good for graphics stuff | nedkelly (9059) | |
2010-10-11 06:16:00 | Yea. I love mac's and their programs, I've just grown up with windows and know it inside out, so want one of them. I am getting a mac eventually, but they're easy to find what I want, PC's not so much | dpDesignz (15919) | |
2010-10-11 06:18:00 | Well I found macs very easy to learn. | nedkelly (9059) | |
2010-10-11 06:39:00 | Build your own if you know how. It generally works out cheaper and is much easier to upgrade later on. | pcuser42 (130) | |
2010-10-11 06:52:00 | Something with an i7 maybe, a gigabyte or asus motherboard, 4-8Gb RAM +64bit windows 7 would be a good starting point I'm guessing although an i5 might also be ok and then a decent GPU. Funny how when you say no macs people try to convince you otherwise even when you try and placate them by pointing out you are going to get one eventually

I'm in the waikato district I use Ascent (free overnight shipping :D), although Computer Lounge also seems to get good comments as well. |
