Do you think it's too early for him to play against the likes of Ponting, Clarke, Johnson etc?

Personally, I think it's a good opportunity for him but it's going to be tough considering he will be facing 140+ km bowlers and may bowl occasional off spin against batsmen with averages around 50.

Peter Ingram, Shannon Stewart and James Franklin do exceptionally well domestically but fail to do well internationally.

This would be my line-up for the second test

1. McIntosh
2. Watling
3. Taylor
4. Sinclair
5. Guptill
6. Vettori
7. McCullum
8. Williamson
9. Southee
10. Arnel
11. Martin

12th Man - Patel

So here, we have a strong batting lineup. 3 strike fast bowlers, 1 full-time spinner (Vettori) and 2 part-time spinners (Williamson and Guptill)

We shouldn't put Williamson at the beginning as we don't want him playing too early if our opening batsmen do get out early.

What do you guys think?

869750 2010-03-25 00:14:00 wat.

No way should someone as promising as Williamson be forced to debut against Australia, after losing the first test by ten wickets. It's just not fair on him. I love how you've decided to swap out a bowler for a batsman too btw. Our bowling was no way in hell good enough to afford to drop a bowler. Yes, our batting was abysmal, but our bowling was worse.

Also, Sinclair at 4? What's wrong with you? Calling Guptill a part-time spinner is also ridiculous. The guy can occasionally bowl an over of pies, but he's not exactly part time material.

Patel or Franklin will come in for Tuffey depending on seam/spin friendly pitch conditions. Maybe Sinclair for Ingram if one of the selectors uses his brain for once.

869751 2010-03-25 00:24:00 Lol at putting Taylor at 3. I just can't understand what you're trying to do there... He's always been a 4 or 5 batter. :illogical :xmouth:

Yay he's batted at 3 once, when we played Sri Lanka and were chasing 413 in the final innings. They mixed the order up completely to try something different and we were bowled out for 210.

Yay, let's repeat the Taylor at 3 experiment! :groan:

What do you guys think of my absurdly illogical thought processes?

I've been banned in the past for posting what I think of people so if I answer this question I'll probably get banned Creighton styles finally.

869753 2010-03-25 03:45:00 Dude, I'm not a professional selector . It's just my own opinion . :annoyed:

. . . . . . . . . . . . . No wonder you got banned .

The line up is a rough estimate and I we don't have a strong top order considering the middle/lower order scored most of the runs in the 1st test .

The bowling wasn't horrendous, we just don't have strong fast bowlers like Bollinger, Harris and Johnson . If Shane Bond was still playing test matches, our bowling lineup would have been a little better .

Also if Styris still played Test Matches, we could take out Sinclair and put Guptill in at number 3 and Taylor at number 4 . Styris will go at number 5 .

You may be right about Williamson regarding playing his first test against the Aussies . He could be useful in playing in tours . But putting him down the order with the likes of McCullum and Vettori who have both played over 50 test matches can guide Williamson and take any pressure off him to score quickly .

I still respect Sinclair as a test batsmen . I watched both his double hundreds and they were amazing . He does have his bad days but it's the same as any other batsmen .

wat .

Our bowlers took 3 wickets (4 if you count the stumping) for 565 . If that's not horrendous I don't know what is .

Yes that would be fantastic . . . . If only someone could talk Scotty back into the test side . God knows we need him .

I will be very interested to see the final eleven . I sincerely hope Sinclair comes in for Ingram, he really deserves another run . Williamson could well perform . He's in currently in good form and I agree with the idea of batting him low down the order if he is selected . Also playing at his home ground would be a good way to debut . I'm warming to the idea of him playing . Will see what happens .
