Access is denied: '(assembly name)'

I'm trying to delete some files in the Windows/assembly folder but it won't let me. Isn't there some way I can override this to successfully delete these?

One person suggested the following on another forum:

This behavior is controlled by the "desktop.ini" file in %WINDIR%\Assembly.

You can restore "normal" behavior of Explorer when displaying files and
folders in the %WINDIR%\Assembly tree by adding a Registry entry:

Key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fusion
Data: "DisableCacheViewer"=dword:1

Which sounds like what I am looking for, but I'm not sure exactly how to add that registry entry in the right spot. Anyone have advice for this?

I was able to edit the Windows/assembly without the error by restarting in safe mode .

Unfortunately that was supposed to be a fix for a bigger problem I have and it didn't work . I think I will make a new topic explaining it .
