871612 2010-04-01 02:34:00 I have a parabolic reflector, to which a microphone can be attached, which makes very directional and very efficient sound recordings.

The reflector makes possible sound collection over many metres (depending on the sound volume, of course) with very little extraneous noise from the sides and rear. It is sometimes possible to pick one sound out of many.

I have found the reflector very helpful for recording video sound tracks. Whatever you are shooting you are able to follow and collect excellent sound using the reflector. Unfortunately you cannot operate a camera and a reflector at the same time, so speaking sweetly to SWMBO often helps.

Operation is very simple. Point and follow your sound source.

I am shifting house to smaller premises and it is one of many items being disposed of. I'd hate to dump it. Is it of any use to anyone?

871613 2010-04-03 00:27:00 It seems that there is no interest. It is a pity, but if I receive no replies then it will be dumped.:horrified Roscoe (6288)
871614 2010-04-03 04:19:00 I would like it - but that would get me higher on the Homeland Security Red Flag List - so thanks anyway, but no. SurferJoe46 (51)

Next time you come Auckland way, perhaps.

871616 2010-04-03 06:27:00 How big is it? Would it be any use for recording acoustic guitar? I wouldnt mind recording some but I want that "live" sound without all the cars driving past etc hueybot3000 (3646)
871617 2010-04-03 06:29:00 Many years ago a friend and I use to go out into the bush at dusk looking for NZ native bats using a parabolic reflector. We found a couple of colonies.
:)

871618 2010-04-03 16:21:00 We gotz "Bingo bats" "Ding Bats" and "Old Bats". However none of them live in colonies, although some small groups can be found in convalescent homes. SurferJoe46 (51)
