Pistols however are no match for AK47s.

870796 2010-03-31 05:05:00 Agreed but can you hit me in the head with a slug while I am moving and over 100 yards away? Sweep (90)

50 mt free pisol has a bull sze of 1/2 a crown, they sttood still for quite a bit of time,I assure you with 10 mins in which to do the deed it would be no problemo.

I could hit the legs blindfolded.

And on top of that, since when do that number of rozzers not have a rifle on board.

870799 2010-03-31 05:42:00 So if the Police enforce protective measures for the general public like helmets and seat belts etc why do they not use protective measures for themselves?

I do have to ask.

Perhaps:

1. They're human too, plagued with the same lack of common sense.
2. There's a difference between a legal requirement and an employer's policy...

870800 2010-03-31 07:45:00 People have to be wierd to not want repeat violent offenders put away for as long as possible.

But then everyone has a right to their opinion including both you and I.

I think your spelling is a little weird but what the hell has that got to do with Larry Williams??

870801 2010-03-31 21:50:00 Police (the visible ones) have all the trouble they could be expected to handle and more originating from Parliament and the invisible edict-writers in Police headquarters. (Prefect may consider making them drive Holdens is a further affront.)
When idiots act with ritual illegality, it is quite possible that the officers will respond a bit ritualistically.
Laws are issued in our name, and we require the Police to swear an oath to uphold those laws. Unfortunately due to the actions of several generations of special interest groups, edicts are issued by the Police policy gnomes to try and cover every situation that may arise. A side effect of this plethora of paper is that it effectively bans any discretion or common sense interpretations by visible Police during duty hours, aside from matters such as whether or not to take sugar in their coffee, or even drink tea.
When Lycra larrikins act illegally by not wearing helmets, the strict requirement is to deal with the offender impartially using the justice system, when common sense might suggest that an educational campaign based on tasering bald cyclists on sight may well curtail the practise at minimal expense and with little time required to mete out the treatment.

Aside from the efficiency of the method, it would provide light entertainment for bystanders, delivering a little laughter into their lives.

870802 2010-03-31 22:17:00 Saw the film the other night, where about 40 cops couldn't hit the gangsters in the head or the legs, quite annoying to watch.

that film is very closely based on the true event. if i remember right in the real thing they where wearing head gear too. one bank robber was put down after being hit in between the vest and head gear.

there was also a case some years ago when someone tried the same but wore two bullet proof vests. later tests showed that the standard issue rifles couldn't shoot through two vests. (rifle's will shoot through one, most vests only stop pistol rounds). in that case, fortunately for police, the bank robber wasn't wearing head gear.

Yeah being a policeman and having to drive ratshit holdens is not pleasant but someone has to do it I suppose. If the feds had falcs they might get a better type of recruit.
Have to agree tasering bald headed cyclists then book them for breach of the peace or disorderly conduct whilst writhing in pain might be the way to go RX. Though the trendy liberal 12vdc might disagree.
