870784 2010-03-30 17:57:00 Well all I can say is several ex cycle helmets have saved my life, one when I got hit from behind by a car, one when I hit a cat while travelling at 65kph (the sudden stop was really painful), and one while mountain biking although it didn't protect my elbow which got broken. In all three incidents I probably wouldn't have walked away if not wearing a helmet gary67 (56)

870786 2010-03-30 18:52:00 People have to be wierd to not want repeat violent offenders put away for as long as possible.

But then everyone has a right to their opinion including both you and me.

Ah thats better.

870790 2010-03-31 04:02:00 So if the Police enforce protective measures for the general public like helmets and seat belts etc why do they not use protective measures for themselves?

I do have to ask.

It's the old one rule for them and another for us.

870792 2010-03-31 04:15:00 Gee. It's what I thought too.

I do have to admit it is highly unlikely that a stab proof vest would have stopped a bullet at close range though. Also vests don't stop head wounds either.

Saw the film the other night, where about 40 cops couldn't hit the gangsters in the head or the legs, quite annoying to watch.
