If there is a mortgage, then all the rent would go towards paying the mortgage, and pctek would still need to find the money from somewhere to rent in Auckland. That said - provided she can find a tenant, renting out her existing place does make sense. The tenant should hopefully cover whatever debt exists on the property, and you don't lose a valuable fiscal asset. AH. I don't have a mortgage here. However. Ferry 440 Gas 600 Accomodation/Food/Misc/Cat transport on the way up 500 Rent/Bond etc in advance 2220 3 months living 12000 (assuming 3 months finding a job) Movers 10000 Loans 2850 At the moment I have exactly $1.04 in the bank. The business account has $200. I got quotes from the movers, the rest is approximate. But close. Add real estate fees, lawyers etc and its even more. So we have to sell it just to leave. We have been going round and round in circles for ages about this. Neither of us wants to do it. I think we haven't got a choice. You guys are the ones always going on about dole bludgers, well guess what, we get WINZ assistance now cause our work doesn't pay the bills. Not total Winz, I have to send her P&L statements to have it adjusted according to what we make but still. It sucks. It's dropped off heaps, mine is probably better than his at the moment, some of that is the recession but we can't keep doing this. There is the risk of the same thing up there but hey, it's the biggest city in the country, if we can't make a living there we might as well be dead. |

I think we haven't got a choice.You have had to make some really hard choices and I think you should be proud of yourselves for making a plan to get yourself through it. Many don't. It is a sign of the times with the current economy that many people have had to divert from original plans or lifestyle goals and go in a different direction. Good luck with selling the house and the move. :) |

If you are just staying a night in the middle of the S and N Island for a night for a rest break that can be lesser ... Not sure about the movers. Would it make sense to repurchase in AKL? I always found the others in the house accumulate a lot of crap the house would be so much roomier. I've just had a night stay in Franz Josef then to Picton (from Te Anau) and Welly to AKL could be a straight trip... with a lunch break in Taupo :D |

| 871365 | 2010-04-01 22:41:00 | I have shopped around . I got quotes . I'm going from Wyndham - that affects a lot of them - it's off the beaten track . Also I had a independant one coming down . He broke things and some things got nicked by his (contracted) helpers . I couldn't prove it . They have Carriers cover but insurance is I think it was 1/5% of total value of your stuff, as a one off premium . Bugger that . I'm not selling stuff, well actually a few bits . But its harder here - pick up from Wyndham anyone? And I have some nice things, OK I bought them on TM when that was easy to do, what people in Remuera think is crap is a bargain for me . Maybe if I owned all junk, but I don't . As for house prices West Auckland, its around $275000 for the pits to $350000 for a decent OK house . Irrelevant . We are renting . We won't get a mortgage . Husband is too old . They won't do it just on what I can expect to earn either . Yes ferry can be less . Its approximate, err on the side of caution, not go cheapest I can think of and then maybe be more later . Safer to assume slightly too much . Hell I've been doing all the figures for months . It will probably be Here to Ngapara, stop at best friends and cry together, then go to Wellington from there maybe . Then go via Napier (detour) to see parents, then Auckland . Or maybe Ngapara to Kaikoura then Kaikoura to Napier . Or something . We did in 4 days last time . Not 2, too dangerous, could do it in 3 but nah, 4 probably . |
