Stand for Parliament or become a lawyer or a talkback host or be a talkback host and stand for Parliament. Oh wait didn't a talkback host do that already but then resigned?

You can even start your own Party as Alamein Kopu did.

It was, and he was in the wrong. I think the police were pretty good about it, considering how much of an idiot he is.

870768 2010-03-30 06:19:00 I hope you have noticed that there is going to be a youth arm of the SST so I see.

Once again you have not mentioned the consequences of failing to wear a helmet. If he was not wearing one and fell off the cycle and had brain damage as a result I can only think that you are happy to pay for the treatment(s) required via taxes that most of us pay?

He was taken into custody because he did not supply his name as required by law. In fact that's why he was taken into custody rather than the alleged offence.

From what I've read, wearing a helmet is no safer than not wearing one.

As far as the health service goes - make it all user pays and then no one will be paying tax for it.

As far as getting taken into custody for not providing your name, hardly a serious offence when the law you broke in the first place was supposedly for your own safety. No wonder the Police don't have time for real crime if they're busy interrogating cyclists for not giving their name.

870769 2010-03-30 06:34:00 Well there is really no point in the police doing anything anyway as some people want the offenders out of pokey really early. Sweep (90)

Been through that and have managed to make small differences here and there, but at 77 with a pretty severe heart condition and several heart attacks behind me I doubt anybody sees me having much of a future in politics. So I write moaning emails etc., and try to live up to being a real grumpy old man.
Christmas BAH Humbug!
One of my favorite sayings - well somebody has to say it.

870771 2010-03-30 07:56:00 You have to be an ex traffic cop to be a grumpy talk back host - like Larry Williams. Twelvevolts (5457)

People have to be wierd to not want repeat violent offenders put away for as long as possible.

But then everyone has a right to their opinion including both you and I.

870773 2010-03-30 09:42:00 I always had it in my mind that the cycle helmet law is really to prevent the taxpayer having to pay, over and over, for medical/surgical treatment for head injuries sustained by people, who feel that accidents only happen to others. Marnie (4574)
