| 1144225 | 2010-10-13 22:45:00 | Our autocad add on "bentley autoPLANT" is still 32 bit only and still wont work on anything over autocad 2009 yet. it is the piping package and specs We are looking at autodesk equivalent "PLANT3D" which will be 64 bit compatible but have to look at the budget to see if it is worth it or as good as the bentley package All work is generally done over the network so it is backedup Some users copy it locally to work on and then copy back but only if the network slows it down significantly ie solidworks is a dog across the network EDIT: snork good idea, i might bench test it at home first.... Just had a second quote come in from another pc builder in town, exactly the same price. good to see they can match the prices of the online builders 32bit applications run just fine on x64 o/s and hardware.....!!!..seriously, try it with x64 1st, you get 50% more RAM on your system....I dont know of any software that wont run on x64 UNLESS it has a 16bit installer.... You can use the same install key for both x86 and x64, all you need is the media! |

| 1144226 | 2010-10-13 22:57:00 | We have tried it on a 64 bit OS in the past. It wont install We have contacted their support a couple of years ago and they are working on it but they have been for a few years i believe. It is one of those "dont hold your breath" things |

| 1144227 | 2010-10-13 23:30:00 | If it installers on windows 7, it will install on x64. When they talk about x64, Im sure they are referring to a x64 version which can use more than 4Gb RAM... Get the x64bit media as well as x86 if you can, Ive got $20 says it will run fine!...... |

I will be very surprised if they deliver Are you not getting confused over a x64 version and x86 version that CAN run on x64 platform....As I said, ONLY API drivers will stop a program from running on a x64 o/s and 16bit installer....the program will get loaded to c:\Program Files (x86)\.......... |
