870744 2010-03-29 06:53:00 Sounds like a pretty standard cyclist. Laws are only for others.

Should have tasered him, then booked him for breakdancing in a public place without a permit

Thats the funniest post I have seen here for awhile

870745 2010-03-29 07:38:00 I didn't see the article on TV. But the problem here, I reckon, is that women police think they have to be as macho as their male counterparts, and try to exercise their authority to an excessive degree.

Female police should be relegated to duties which only involve involve female offenders.
Nothing to do with the women Police Officers attitude.

Well I saw one one night get things right out of proportion and created a problem where there wasn't one.

Wrong rules are made to be broken otherwise why make them.

870748 2010-03-29 08:25:00 second, if the police ask you for your name/address/ID is pays to be helpful.
there is no point is pissing them off.
Unless they have a valid reason for doing so they can get stuffed. As far as I know NZ isn't a police state yet.
In this case as he wasn't wearing a helmet they were justified.

870749 2010-03-29 08:26:00 As he didn't give his name, he must have had something to hide from the police.
It must be past your bed time:rolleyes:

Wrong. If asked by the Police you have to give them your name. They don't have to give a reason, but in saying that they are not going to come up and ask who you are if you are doing nothing wrong.

870751 2010-03-29 09:24:00 "Wearing crash hats is sensible but no way should be compulsory for cyclists."

I stopped reading there.

Wearing seatbelts is sensible but no way should be compulsory for motorists.

I would have thought the opposite, in my experience chicks can calm people down where everything else has failed.
Matter of fact chicks are better than males in lots of things where not showing off or being staunch are factors.
Best flight instructor I ever had was a chick, she never used to bang her head on the instrument panel coaming saying god give me strength like my other flight instructor did when I ****** up a lesson.

870753 2010-03-29 09:33:00 It was a stupid law brought in by do-gooders presumably for what they think are safety reasons. So the Police think for his safety on the road they have to take him into custody, brilliant thinking by the Police and totally out of proportion for a victimless minor offence. Of course the Sensible Sentencing mob would want ten years prison and no parole, as they would think a minor offence would lead to murder if not punished severely. Twelvevolts (5457)
