870822 2010-03-29 01:37:00 Is the 1 star for online or store?

Makes no difference, they are one and the same thing. Same scabby people operate both, from the same location. Just hope and pray your Nokia doesn't crap out on you.

Cheers

The sour taste of bad service lingers longer than the sweetness of a few dollars saved.

870823 2010-03-29 03:01:00 Last week bought my new Nokia E63 from them. Really great service.

You must be an exception to the rule.

I bought a mouse from them, it was listed on their site as being in stock, but they emailed me to say it wasn't. :badpc:

So they let me choose another model. I chose a slightly cheaper one, but they never offered to refund the difference.

870824 2010-03-29 03:20:00 I have previously bought 2 w/s monitors from them.

Great service both times :)

870825 2010-03-29 03:24:00 Oh when buying stuff I ring first to make sure they have stock, because I live in Gulf Harbour the only good computer shops near me are all on the shore. I did get a 1 year warranty from them. nedkelly (9059)
870826 2010-03-29 03:57:00 The shop I use on the Shore for most of my purchases is Advanced Computers in Link Drive. Pretty good prices, a good range of stuff and friendly staff who know what they're doing. I have recommended this shop to friends and family and they have also had the same level of service that I have had (so it's not just my handsome face they respond to!!).

(DISCLAIMER: I have no affiliation to the abovementioned shop, other than as a satisfied customer)

For online stuff I use Ascent.

870827 2010-03-29 04:44:00 hmm never heard of them. But then again I dont live on the shore so there are so many places that I do not know. nedkelly (9059)
870828 2010-03-29 06:12:00 Last week bought my new Nokia E63 from them. Really great service.

Really? The phone got a problem within a week? And they were really great about the replacement?

Because that's how you tell - any *^$#% will happily SELL you something - it's the after sales service that separates the good stores from the bad.

870830 2010-03-29 06:44:00 I have concerns with Expert Infotech's credit card security, as they (used to anyway) capture credit card details online, which they then enter manually into an EFTPOS terminal.

A couple of years ago I used two different credit cards with Expert Infotech. A few months down the track, both card numbers showed up in India, and were used to purchase airline tickets. Fortunately my bank was very quick to respond to this fraud, so I wasn't left out of pocket.

Now I'm not accusing Expert Infotech of stealing my credit card details - in fact, I have no proof it is related to them or their employees, other than the fact that they were the only company I had used both of my credit cards at within the few months leading up to the incident. One of the cards I had only used a handful of times, with the other transactions processed by reputable firms (like DPS). Since they were storing my credit card numbers, it is possible that someone had hacked into their servers, or more likely (in my view), they had thrown out an EFTPOS stub which contained my credit card number, and that had been picked up by someone. For some reason, the eftpos receipt they attached to my invoice had my credit card number printed in full, which is a bit odd as I'm used to eftpos machines blanking out at least part of the number.

Again, I could be totally wrong, but it did seem like too much of a coincidence.

870831 2010-03-29 07:46:00 I know friends who have been happy with them. I have bought from them before with no issues but the most recent time.

That was online. They use ASB secure payment, my main c/c didn't work. So I used the other card which is hardly used. After payment was made, at a later date I got some fraudulent transactions put onto my c/c at Auckland which I was told via a phone order was made to purchase a $1,000 mobile phone at a Telecom chain store in Auckland, on my statement it had the Chainstore name (think it was Orbit) and the word "LIM", which I assume is a Asian owned independent Telecom chainstore. I also had 2 or 3 internet transactions related to Skype accounts.

For me it is easy to pinpoint, b/c that card I hardly used it, at the time only 1 or 2 transactions, only in Wellington - Shell petrol and Kathmandu. My belief is Expert Infotech. That was the only time I used that c/c at Auckland offline or online. Unless some other Aucklander on the Internet intercepted the secure transaction or someone from a Wellington store flew to Auckland to do a phone order.
