| 1144206 | 2010-10-12 22:57:00 | $2400 on crossfire....LMAO!, you have got to be kidding me. 1)-Change the crossfire for a single GTX480 or if you must a ATi5870 2)-RAID 1 the data drives....read speed is greatly improved when the controller can read from 2 or 4 drives at once. 3)-Now Im confused as to crossfire $2.4K and a Quadro also? 4)-Case is nice, but not my cup of tea, either a 800D or for better cooling a HAF-X 5)- Change O/S to x64, everything else looks good.. |

| 1144207 | 2010-10-12 23:02:00 | Yeah removed the crossfire and installed a quadro card (allowed to go to the next level of a 3800 :)) Case size important due to desk space limited (lian li looks ok) Have to use 32 bit as supporting software (bentley systems) is 32 bit only :( but if we go to the full autodesk suite int he future we will bump all our os up to 64 bit I might be able to chuck another SSD in for a Raid 0 Do you think the 650W PSU is enough? EDIT: Made the change to 2x 60gb SSDs in Raid 0 and removed the wireless desktop for a cheapo wired setup (office easier without batteries) Price is eactly the same :) |

| 1144208 | 2010-10-12 23:19:00 | Very nice, you should dual boot or something, you're going to waste half your ram! :crying The Corsair 650w PSU is pretty good and will handle the jandal, if it was me I'd whack in a 750w though just to give it a bit more headroom. I have that CPU cooler and it's great...my i7 860 runs around 30 degrees. :D The two SSDs will make you very happy....I only have one and it's still awesome...rest of it looks ideal. Make sure you have a good backup scheme in place if you store important data on the RAID. |

I normally buy the FX1800 at around $900 but they are starting to struggle with the larger models our draughties are getting into We have tried good gaming cards in the past but you cant beat the quadro for reliability Conflict on the Raid, Wratt says yes Sol says no, any other one think it is not worth it?? |
