1144152 2010-10-12 21:27:00 Hi all
I realise this mightn't be the right place to post this question but this forum has always been good to me.... so here goes.
I ripped all my Cd's with Media player, they are all aranged nicely with all the info like Artist, Album and art all there. I've just loaded iTunes and copied all my music across, two problems. First is that I can't find a setting to turn off the iTunes web access, this means as soon as I click on iTunes to do anything it goes looking to connect to the net. Takes two clicks each time to cancel and get to do what I want. Second is that all my music have come across but only the song name is there. No Artist, Album or Art. This means that all the song are aranged in the track order eg all track 1's then track 2's then 3's ect. Any ideas on how to make the layout like Media Player.

Many thanks. Dave

1144153 2010-10-12 21:30:00 I know it's not much help, but I personally detest iTunes - is using something else (like winamp) an option? wratterus (105)
1144154 2010-10-12 21:32:00 What do you mean by web access? nedkelly (9059)
1144155 2010-10-12 21:39:00 If you have selected the music on the left hand side last time you close it, then it will open in music, not Itunes store. Other wise up top, Edit preferences, work through the tabs, untick anything relating to Web access.

Arrangement - If you right click on the Bar - Shown Here (www.imagef1.net.nz), there are a lot of Different option (www.imagef1.net.nz) you can select. If you select Artist for example, there is a arrow on the right, click that, and all the tracks will then arrange in artist name A-Z. Evey "title" has this option to rearrange Via the Arrow, so select which suits your needs.

1144156 2010-10-12 22:12:00 Thanks all, I also hate iTunes. Thats why I was putting off getting an ipad for so long.... Will any of the other programs such as Winamp, Media player load to an ipod?

I tried all the selections mentioned but it seams it might be the format that Media player ripped them to. Media player ripped them to Artist fold which then contained the album folder which in turn held the songs. Not sure if all the tag data is there.

As for web access it trys to open iTunes each time I want to do anything....
Sucks.

1144157 2010-10-12 22:14:00 There are other programs that can sync with an Ipod. ie: Winamp, mediamonkey but both aren't free forever. But both wont update the firmware

Untick all the audio options in it. Its probably opening because you made it the default for everything

1144158 2010-10-12 22:51:00 Another one that can play directly from an Ipod, is Copytrans (www.copytrans.net) - I'm using it right now to test some functions a customer wants.

Its mainly used for editing, deleting songs/ video but it can play all selected songs, and there is a free version The top one (www.imagef1.net.nz)

1144159 2010-10-13 19:48:00 If you're just using an iPod, get MediaMonkey as mentioned earlier. The free version doesn't do cd ripping, but you can still do that in media player anyway.

It is much smaller & simpler to use than iTunes.

Winamp is another option, but I found it a little more fiddly to use.
