1145713 2010-10-17 21:43:00 Hi Team,
I've recently built a PC for my bro in-law. It has a Win7 Rating of 5.9. The 5.9 is relating to the current WD SATA Black Edition hard drive. All the other components ratings are high 7's.

What performance hard drives do you suggest I get to increase this rating? The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H and can support SATA 6Gb/s drives.

Cheers.

1145715 2010-10-18 06:57:00 Get a Vertex 2 with sandforce controller, apparently its the shiz, I'm looking at getting one myself... Deimos (5715)
1145716 2010-10-18 07:23:00 Hard drives top out at 5.9 on Windows 7. The only way to get a higher score is by going for a (not very cheap) SSD. pcuser42 (130)
1145717 2010-10-18 19:08:00 I get 7.1 for my Sandforce SSD, however its only on a lappy! SolMiester (139)

1145719 2010-10-18 22:33:00 That drive's already a performance drive, unless you're taking VelociRaptors into account. qazwsxokmijn (102)
1145720 2010-10-19 00:16:00 It's the graphics that are bringing my Win7 PC down, a GTX260. :D

Think the SSD is 7 or 7.1.

1145722 2010-10-19 03:07:00 Cheers for all feedback. 5.9 it is then!...
He can't afford an SSD at the moment. Had to sell his guitar to get funds for this PC.....
