872780	2010-04-04 09:49:00	Ok today went to a friendly BBq at basins reserve with some people i knew and some i didnt . . . . . everyone was a family, parents with children in tow . etc . . . happened to be sitting at the table were the guys were talking . . . . . . . . . . . and somehow they started talking about money . . . . . . . . . . . and harvey normans 50 months interest free thingy . . . . . . . . . . . one was hoping his wife was going to buy him a brand new telly for his birthday . . . they worked out to get a tv for 5 thousand dollars, you only had to pay $25 a forthnight . . . . . . so you would get a dam fine tv for $25 and 50 months interest free . I happened to comment that i had HP a stove for nearly $2 thousand and i only had to pay $80 a forthnight for a year of interest free . . . . . and they said They dam sure wouldnt be watching the stove in a hurry . . . . . . . . . and its obvious im female cos no male would do that? they would be watching this new tv that i shoulda got? 2 of those guys didnt no me from adam, they dont know i work, and raise my kids alone . . . . . all the other females at the bbq are SAHM's . . and the one guy that knew me just looked at me . . . he knows . they also said im a mother and my priorities are to keep people fed? I thought that was unfair as i dont have a adult male in my house, and im sure if i did he would be complaining about the lack of meals that came out of the kitchen when he was hungry . . . . . . . . . sitting in front of one of my 2 32 inch tellys at my house . . . . . . . are all you guys the same? do you all think females should be stuck in the kitchen? I work dam hard for my money, and to keep food on my table . . . . . . . . . i have 6 tv's in my house . . . . . . . . . and 3 of us live here . . . . . lol admittedly they not top of the range, but they just fine . . . . . . . . . you guys . . . . . . . . . do you actually think with your brain or your stomach? :p and i dont need another telly . . . . . . . . . i just need reception . . . . . . . :D beetle	beetle (243)

Er......they're discussing buying TVs and you mention you bought an oven. Totally OT. And they say no guy would do that. Well most guys, unless they were chefs or something wouldn't care about buying ovens. That doesn't translate into them thinking woman should be in the kitchen. It's sort of like we're all sitting around discussing PC purchases or something and then you go well I'm thinking of buying this handbag. I'd look at you funny too.	pctek (84)
872782	2010-04-04 10:28:00	well i popped in the stove bit cos we were talking about HP's and interest free . . . . . . . . . . . tv's and stoves were not the only items discussed . i dunno, i just thought it was a bit off, making those sort of comments, he didnt say it outright, just implied the women in kitchen thing . . . . i guess it comes down to i didnt like him . :p which for me is unusual i take each person as they come mostly . . . . . . . . . . . :p i like my stove we made a banana cake tonight and a double bacth of chocolate chip cookies . . . . . . . . . :) beetle	beetle (243)

As for women - kitchen: IME most women can cook very well, and, as such, the person who can cook the best, usually does. Same reason everyone in my house asks me about computer stuff. It's a job, like dishes and mowing lawns, usually one person takes it on. But what do I know, I'm only 18. PS I do the dishes here. PPS A woman's place isn't in the kitchen, but thats usually how it pans out.	ubergeek85 (131)
872787	2010-04-04 11:54:00	I've heard about stoves. It was quite a while ago though. Google just says it is a baking appliance for the kitchen, no mention of whether it is audio, video or some weird Apple machine. Explanations in foreign languages are worse than no explanation at all, if they don't want us to know what a stove is for they should just say so.	R2x1 (4628)
