872690 2010-04-06 00:48:00 Even in Japan it is getting popular. A friend probably has a iPhone now.

Before it was Sony wasn't it? Sony Style ......

Japan network's compatible with 3G phones now, formerly travelers had to get a loan phone when they arrived into Japan.

Kindles are a complete **** tbh lol, the screen flashes everytime you change the page on the screen. Gives you a headache
Disgusting. Books do something like this too; it is time something was done to protect our children from this flamboyant flashing. ;)

872692 2010-04-06 00:49:00 I bet children will now want a iPad instead of a laptop :D or those toy laptops :D

I think in many ways, other companies are trying to copy Apple, at the end of the day consumers want it.. Silver shiney devies, big screen, touch screen, feature after feature. I think gadgets these days have gotten larger than the past but people are accepting them.

Yes but its not nearly as annoying as a white screen flashing to black and white again everytime you turn the page :P

It's certainly very distracting for the first few minutes (as I imagine turning pages in a paper book would be, if you'd never used one before), but after a few minutes you simply don't notice it.

In the interests of full disclosure: I own an e-ink reader (Sony PRS-505), and have used it almost exclusively for the last two years - I avoid paper books where possible.

872695 2010-04-06 01:04:00 I'm hoarding real books, and storing them away for my kids.

Too bad if they don't share my taste.:D

Fair enough - ebooks aren't for everyone :).

Out of interest, what was it about the Kindle (other than the screen flash) that you didn't like?

I couldn't get the 3G to work here so i had to use the USB cable to purchase books.

And lack of inputs, would be nice to see a plug and play USB port so you can load up some books straight from the flash drive but youd have to make the case thicker in order o put a usb

872699 2010-04-06 01:51:00 It's nice to be needed, but not when there's an unspoken accusation that somehow the laptop is poking fun at her lack of knowledge and it's somehow MY fault!!

Ah so I am not alone in having one of this type of people!(sic)
