873567 2010-04-06 08:36:00 I could use a dialup modem, but there are no drivers for 64 bit. The only computer that can use it, is the one across the room, but then I would need a phone extn, because the phonejack is behind this desk. I would change ISP too, BUT this isnt my phone, and I dont pay for it. And the only way most ISP's will let me join, is if I pay for the Internet and the phone, which isnt going to happen Speedy Gonzales (78)
873568 2010-04-06 08:41:00 Major outages has been now and then. My experience with Xnet has been unreported ones that might happen at a micro level for a moment (15mins or 1hr or such), just surfing (email ok), or just related to the email port number. I pop my other non-Xnet emails and I send emails off with Xnet's smtp server when I was with Xnet BB.

I average, major issues might be each 3 or 6 months. Mini outages maybe each 2 months or each month ..

How are you or anyone else getting online? :D

873570 2010-04-06 08:45:00 The flatmate pays for the phone / and rental. I pay for the net access. If Xnet goes down tough, I cant get online till its working again. I'll just play on the Xbox till it decides to work :p Speedy Gonzales (78)

Mobile? Dont think so. Dont have one now anyway. I lost it. And no I'm in the flat I rent, with the flatmate.

Like I said she pays for the phone and I pay for the internet access. BUT, if I want to change ISP, most of them want me to put the phone in my name (or put my name on the phonebill as well), or /and pay for the net and the phone (which isnt gonna happen). And I cant go on something like naked ADSL either because of this (because I dont pay for the phone / rental). There is a separate phoneline here. But I used to use that when we were on dialup. And I got it cut, when I got onto broadband. So, I wouldnt have to pay for net access and the phone line

873575 2010-04-06 10:41:00 I didn't realise Xnet outages were that common. I think I've had 3 or 4 short internet outages in the last 2 years. I've had far more mail server outages than complete network outages ... if that is anything positive. :p

I have to agree here. I don't use their mail servers so I wouldn't know about that, but I have been a customer for about 5 years and have had the odd outage, but nothing more than I would expect from any provider. I have to say that they have been a pretty good provider all in all and their phone service is really good when they aren't highly congested - and let's face it, if they are overloaded, then there is no reason for you to need to get hold of them anyway because you can tell that they already know about the problem and that it is not a fault at your end, and talking to a tech support person isn't going to help you at all.

873576 2010-04-06 10:50:00 I get mini outages all the time, usually once a week. Not as bad as it used to be though.. dian77 (13936)
