873594 2010-04-06 21:21:00 Booking so far out probably rules out overbooking. They have most likely changed there timetable for what ever reason.

Since they rolled you forwards a day, you should be able to ask they roll you back a day earlier, shouldn't cost. If it does, you might have a claim via your travel insurance.

As for Emirates or Singapore Airlines, of course pricing varies on routes and time of year but I have found Qantas cheaper than either of them on the routes I need to fly and the timetables suit my work.

But by all means, if you need to, see what Emirates or Singapore Airlines can offer for pricing/route and timetable if Qantas or your agent cannot help you out.

873595 2010-04-06 22:40:00 Hi all, rang Qantas and the problem was not the Sydney-Joburg Intl flight but because they cancelled the flight from Wgtn to Sydney and so moved everything out a day. Just means I spend a night in Sydney beforehand but still make the original intl flight which is cool. I could imagine the Wgtn-Sydney flight would have been chocka with people trying to get to the cup so I bet they receive a few calls today. Why they would cancel a regular NZ-Aussie flight is bizarre.

cheers,
Graham

QF are slowly pulling out of the NZ market and handing over there TransTasman routes to there budget arm JQ. Maybe the Wellington to Sydney routing is being taken over by JQ.

At least it is all sorted.
