873444 2010-04-06 07:58:00 Maybe they should ship them down to NZ as 2nd hand imports that is if they don't rust because of the salt on the roads over there.. paulw (1826)
873445 2010-04-06 08:50:00 What a waste of perfectly good cars.

Surely they could sell these cars and get something back for them?

They would make less money money by scrapping the cars than selling them.

873446 2010-04-06 09:15:00 Well my sisters was a 90's metro the car that replaced the mini, it wouldn't go above 50kmh, go higher than 3rd gear and was completely rusted out it was scrap value only and she got 2000GBP for it if she bought a new car gary67 (56)

Earlier 90s faulty Austin Metro might be a candidate in a scrapping scheme (salvage the lucas electrics first) but some of those cars on the RAF airstrip look new.
Its obscene and crime against the planet. The fact the **** for brains yanks and and our former enemies the germans do it for a stimulus scheme is no excuse.
