872650 2010-04-04 08:26:00 Meh. I've never had a PDA or a laptop that I used on the go .. The closest now is a Nokia Smartphone but when I travel abroad, I tend to leave that home too .... 3G, I cannot afford that. I used 3G on my Nokia for maybe 1 or 2 days .. $2 :D

Me thinking my current Nokia 6230 is easier to use than my Smartphone, buttons are easier to feel when trying to turn off the alarm and to dial when not looking at it and more robust at least psychologically. The Smartphone has a lot of menu and icon navigation, I just don't use the features.

Its free GPS might be useful ...

872654 2010-04-04 09:02:00 Can you put a hot coffee cup on it? As far as I can see it would make a great mini coffee table as you could have all your coffee table books stored on it, instead of having all their bulk in your lounge  gary67 (56)

872656 2010-04-04 11:38:00 OK, so now they have an iPhone, and iPod Touch, and an iPad. I can sort of see why someone would buy an iPhone, and ditto for an iPad, but why on earth would anyone buy an iPod Touch?

I never could understand why anyone would want to buy an iPod Touch in the first place, but now with the iPad, haven't Apple completely stuffed sales of the thingy Touch? No point to it in the first place, and even less point now?

I can almost imagine reading an electronic book in bed via an iPad, but that is the only use I see for it. Personally, I prefer paper, but some of those hefty books with a spine that insists on slamming the book shut on your toast could get replaced by an electronic thingy. War and Peace (yes, I have read it) would be a whole new experience. If you wanted to spend that much on another toy. Humph.

Really! An Ipod touch is ultimately the replacement for the old clickwheeled ipod, so it is firstly a portable media device, and it's other uses are huge. In fact it can do almost all that the ipad and iphone can do(apart from phone calls and 3g data), and it is also portable and pocketable unlike the ipad. It is essentially an ipad mini.
I actually can't see any use for the ipad, aprt from being a device for old people to use for email and a photo frame, without having to worry about viruses. It is also not a good ebook reader, because backlit LED screens are not good for the eyes. eink devices like the kindle are the best types of device for an ebook reader.

872658 2010-04-04 11:59:00 Get both, the touch for travel

Maybe some people need to check email on the bus or at the public lavatory :D 3G all the way, I read once 4G is in the making ... for some devices......

872659 2010-04-04 12:05:00 The other big thing in the ipod touches favor is it's price. You have to pay over 1k for the iphone, the ipad will be close to 1k in NZ, yet you can get the cheapest ipod touch for just $299 robbyp (2751)
