| 872106 | 2010-04-02 04:46:00 | I think they did -Many bad reports about them from various forums. Hmmmmm, did you have the receipt saying you go it from them ? When I used to work at Quays for a while, before I started my own business, I know for a fact that as long as the person had the receipt, and the goods and they matched each other, it was a simple case of check out the persons description on the problem, Eg: faulty Drive in your case would have been done right away, if it were faulty, and under warranty still simply replace it. NOT all faults are the hardware -- Classic example Yesterday , Person said the optical drive I sold them two weeks ago was scratching CD's, said it was faulty -- I checked it, nothing wrong with the drive, took it apart- it was the crap blank CD's, the top coating was flaking off and causing damage ( flakes inside the drive) -- I replaced the drive anyway, simply because it was only a CD writer (thats all they wanted) and they are dirt cheap. Original Question -- Ascent are OK, most people seem happy, odd one that has problems. Yes, I did have a receipt. It was a small receipt not a full A4 page one. They had a look at the CDROM, back in 1997 or so .. on the drive had a sticker with the words "EDGE" on it .. and they said it wasn't from them. Think it was a CDROM or could of been a HD..... They didn't even check the drive. Just said it wasn't from them. I did leave it there cos the lady was behind the counter. But when I went back later .. they said it wasn't from them and I had to ask to get it back. I was 18 back then ... not sure if that was a factor .... |

I purchased a few things from them as they were cheap, but you do get what you pay for. Now that they are gone, any warranty or CGA claim you have, you have to either go to the supplier, or manufacturer, and it would impossible to know who their supplier was for any particular item. | robbyp (2751) | ||

When it failed again a few months later, they tried to feed me the bullshit line that warranty on warranty-replaced parts was only three months and gave me a huge invoice - despite the entire machine being less than a year old. They then tried using intimidation to get me to pay, and threatened to hang on to the machine until I paid their invoice. Needless to say I didn't pay them, and got the machine back after getting the boss involved, but I must say my experience with them was far from brilliant. I won't name the person responsible for the above, but I sure hope they've changed - that's not the way to treat customers, and I certainly won't be back. |

| 872114 | 2010-04-02 07:27:00 | Not the cheapest around (usually pretty close tho'), but completely hassle-free & pretty quick. I've also had a couple of occasions that they've delivered same day if I order early in the morning. | MushHead (10626) | ||
