| 873583 | 2010-04-06 07:37:00 | Hi all, just wondered if anyone has experienced this. Myself and a mate are going to the World Cup in Sth Africa and booked our flights way back in July. Have just received a change in booking advice telling us that the flight date out of NZ has changed to a day after we had booked. No explanation or anything. Talk about rude. We could miss the first game we booked if we go out a day later. We have paid for flights - can they just do this willy nilly? cheers, Graham |

If QANTAS are no help, you could always write to the World Cup organisers and ask them to postpone the match you would otherwise miss... :D |

In my case, they simply bumped me onto a later flight as they were *overbooked* but they then had to rebook all my flights to connect up with each other. Give Qantas a call as soon as you can, they have a NZ 0800 number which after hours connects to Qantas Australia. Explain what the issue is and see if they will move you back a day instead. Did you book on line or via a agent. Qantas is usually quite good in regards to customer service. If you booked on line, contact Qantas though you might remember you would have ticked a box on the booking page agree'ing to there terms and conditions. If you booked via a agent, see them as soon as possible though it wouldn't hurt to call QF all the same, they might be able to help you directly. |

| 873588 | 2010-04-06 10:12:00 | In the last few years QANTAS service has become ratshit - frankly the only reason I will now travel QANTAS is to use up my frequent flyer points - and they deliberately make that bloody hard to do. Threaten to go public to the media - when you pay and they give you a firm booking you have entered into a contract. As a fallback see what Emirates can do -generally cheaper and and 50% more baggage allowance - you may have to transit thru Dubai with Emirates. |

| 873591 | 2010-04-06 19:27:00 | Hi all, thanks for the replies . All flights and accommodation is booked and paid for . Qantas have changed all connecting flights to the next day . It surely can't be overbooking as this was booked back in July before I even knew NZ would make the World Cup . So what happened to first in first served principle I wonder? I suspect the real reason is because Qantas have some deal with tour packages or something and because they get a lot of money through these they just give the finger to everyone else . I will be having a conversation with them this morning to see what can be done . It's really appalling - there's nothing to stop them altering the next flight . . . and the next one . . . etc . Their terms & conditions are pretty much all encompassing saying they can do what they want . :-( |

My Oz mate would %100 agree re Qantas,he would rather walk than use them ,he reckons the only way to go is Singapore . I agree re good ,but I use Emirates as they are 20% less expensive . |
