872931 2010-04-04 23:52:00 No, there is no way I know of, and I've tried lots of things for such sites.

The BBC, Hulu etc have it sewn up, proxies etc dont work, not that one should be attempting such devious things :)

872932 2010-04-05 00:20:00 I am on genealogy mailing lists for the Forest of Dean and Monmouthshire, and on one of them a writer said there is a proxy way around the BBC block . He claimed to have successfully done it from America to watch BBC content (is it the iPlayer app, or some similar dumb name adopted by the Beeb?) .

Well, I tried with one of those proxy things that make out you are actually calling from within Pomgolian shores, but I couldn't get it to work . . . There was one proxy that said it would work if you paid them an inordinate number of shekels to be a subscriber, but I didn't want to watch the content that badly so I declined (the cost of converting our banana republic playmoney into sterling and all that . . . ) .

You use a four letter word in place of a three-letter acronym? lolz

If you want to watch something that badly, either buy the dvd online, or (what I do sometimes), torrent it.

If they don't want to offer you a reasonably legal way to watch their content, screw 'em I say.

Yes I know people who have found away around it but why bother when every show is available on Bit Torrent and available an hour or so after broadcast .

Not sure about that new Doctor Who from last night, no doubt we'll get used to him .

That was the same as David Tennant.

872936 2010-04-05 02:02:00 You would be able to do it with a UK-based VPN service, which will tunnel your web traffic through a server located in the UK, making it look like you're there, and not here.

I use a similar technique to view US tv shows on Hulu and similar sites which are geolocation-limited.

Count the syllables, 1 vs 3.

Yeah that makes sense if you say the word out loud, but when typing on the forum, "BBC" requires one less key press...

Difficult to do that when it is a minority interest programme that they are not going to release on DVD in the foreseeable future. Re Torrent - no-one seems to be interested in doing that for this programme. At least I haven't found them.
