| 871821 | 2010-04-01 19:40:00 | I've been playing with Google maps and see that you can create your own map however it doesn't seem to identify the POI on the map, rather it gives you a list of what you have inputted down the side of the window. Does anyone know how to get a POI with A, B, C etc on the map so you can then cross reference against the details. Is there a way of inputting multiple sites without having to zoom down to each individual address? And how about route planning and finding the quickest and easist route amongst the locations? I have a GPS. it'll tell you something is 900m away and something else is 1300m but they can be in two different directions, what I need though is to be effective. TIA |

You can then click on the icon in the top right corner of the details and change it to another one. That will then display on the map and in the list. While it is not the A,B,C you were looking for (which would be a good idea), it does give some personalization. | Tony (4941)

I tried overlays on my map - but got a bit difficult, as I don't really know javascript. There are also "mashup" scripts/tutorials which I have seen online - so maybe search to try find one that suits... | kahawai chaser (3545)

| 871826 | 2010-04-02 01:19:00 | Yeah - I just wanted a simple overlay of coordinates, and custom location marks - but it cannot be easily/directly done in the current Map format. Only with scripting, or the KML file format... (code.google.com) | kahawai chaser (3545) | ||
