2010-04-11 07:21:00 | Hi Has anyone had any bad experiences with Tower insurance? They come out quite cheap, but apparently it is hard to get them to pay out claims... Or are there any providers I should stay away from, and any you recommend? I'm currently deciding between Tower and AA Insurance (house, contents, car)

2010-04-11 08:17:00 | Hi. I have home, contents and car insurance with AA. I've found them to be really good. I've only made one claim so far (*touches wood*) and they were very prompt in sending an assessor out and then organising the builder. The builder they employed was also very good. I didn't have to do a thing except make the call and tell them about my unfortunate event. The whole thing was sorted within a week from memory. :) FWIW I've heard good things about AMI too, but have had no personal experience with them. EDIT - x 3 on avoiding State Insurance. They're shockers.

2010-04-11 08:42:00 | I'm happy with AMI. Except... they have some weird pricing policies which make me think I'm paying way too much. I'll reconsider next year. | Greg (193) | |
2010-04-11 08:45:00 | Some years ago now we were with State which I beleive is now Tower, we got rear ended by a drunk lady in her BMW but State found us at fault even though the police charged her and she was convicted. You work that out. Changed to AMI and never had a issue with them.

You work that out . Changed to AMI and never had a issue with them . Ahhhh! That's right, State did become Tower, and I think I was still insured with them at that stage . I didn't renew my policy after they changed to Tower . I had trouble getting State/Tower to pay on a claim where a van came out of a side street and drove into my passenger door . Mashed the side of my car completely . He was on a give way sign and looked left but not right and then pulled straight out onto the busy main road I had the bad luck of being on at the time . The police gave him a traffic infringement notice, and yet State decided that I was not looking out for hazards or something! I did see the stopped van on the giveway sign, but at the very time he decided to pull out without looking I was already in his path . Both of my parents have had problems getting them to pay for stuff they should too . I'd say there's a reason why they're cheap . . . . |
