If you jailbreak you can do this, and more. And still no word about wallpapers behind the apps for iPhone or touch. Again, this can be gotten through jailbreaking.

874597 2010-04-09 05:34:00 iPhone CAN multi-task.

I can listen to the iPod component while reading an eBook...

I can browse via the (horrible) Safari browser, and read email while the pages are loading...

Email arrives in the background, when you're doing just about anything else....

Admittedly though, that's about it ....

But what more do you want?

874599 2010-04-09 05:38:00 So it's more for 3rd party apps, not the built in apple ones? wratterus (105)
874600 2010-04-09 05:41:00 Gizmodo have about 10 different articles on the new features and the multi tasking. I wont bother posting the links because I'm sure you can all google "Gizmodo".

All the articles are on the main page.

So what you're saying is you can't wait for a second or two (the worst I have encountered is a couple of seconds) and would prefer the processor to run slower because it's busy running background apps?

874603 2010-04-09 13:56:00 True, though the original iPhone & 3G hardware has limitations both around CPU and RAM that prevent it from multitasking well. I *must* run the RAM-cleaner app prior to launching and backgrounding Ambiance and then Sleep Cycle, or one of them (Ambiance mostly) will crash and burn as the OS free's up RAM for me.

I'm glad they're sticking to their guns about Flash / Java though :)
