1146995 2010-10-24 12:47:00 Skype is not free to send txt, but its a little like a prepaid phone card, you put on some $ to get credits and if you dont use it, then it stays there till you do. A SMS costs approx 19 cents.

Full pricing Details (www.skype.com)

I sent two texts last night.
My Skype account has had $0.16 deducted.

A lot cheaper than buying a cellphone.:)

1146996 2010-10-24 13:03:00 Well I guess that the two texts is going to be all you send for another 30 days or so then. Snorkbox (15764)
1146997 2010-10-25 02:48:00 You can send text messages with Skype, they are referred to as SMS messages. You need some credit in your account first.

yeah, u can send with skype, or use facebook, myspace to send messages, but it is too slow

1146998 2010-10-25 05:24:00 Eh ..... I use Twitter's "direct message" facility to send txt/sms messages to daughter's mobile. There is no charge. Does require both of us to have twitter accounts, and requires her to "follow" me. Works internationally (also free).

Whoa, this is an amazing idea! And they can reply to you for free too :D

My Skype account has had $0.16 deducted.

A lot cheaper than buying a cellphone.:) I was only going by the prices advertised on the Skype site.

Those prices are good, esp if you only use them once in a while.
