874444 2010-04-10 21:15:00 Quite a few PressF1 members have gone on record to say that they do not vote.

In my opinion that's the best time to make a difference if you are going to as an individual.

Personally I think we would achieve quite a bit for NZ as a whole if every citizen transferred to the Maori roll and voted only in the Maori seats. Currently there are 7 maori seats thus there would be only 7 MPs as opposed to the current number which is over 100 and grows according to rules which change anyway.

By Citizens I will include all people born in NZ and all who could hold a NZ passport if applied for.

Naturally all people on the Maori roll will get a part of all the settlements as of right.

You forgot about list MP's, 113 maori party members upgraded from the dole to parliament

We only get list MPs if other parties get 5% or more of the total vote. If National or Labour do not get that figure then none of them go in on the list. Does it sound better now? Added benefit would see the Greens disappear too.

It sounds very much like South Africa and the Allblacks when apartheid was in vogue and South Africa said they would make Maori members of the Allblacks honarary white people.

OK. Very much tongue in cheek but all people would be honarary Maori and therefore entitled to income from Treaty settlements etc. We would be one Nation at last. There is already a precedent for this as some tribe will sell you a Maori drivers licence and/or passport so I am told.

Goes off stage left to form a Company making brown boot polish as I'd be sure of sales.

I could make you one of them in PaintShop Pro. I'd also put you in as pilot for the first 747 out of Wellington carrying the incumbent Govt MPs on a courtesy flight and ensure the 747 had fully Lucas electronics. :clap

Why inject anything into a politician apart from a little common sense if you can find any in liquid form?
