873822 2010-04-06 23:53:00 Cool, thanks for your replies everyone

I have installed MSE, however under the "Real time protection" settings page I have disabled the "monitor file and program activity on your computer" option. (But I have left the "scan all downloaded files and attachments" option enabled.)

Before I did this, the hard drive was churning too much whenever I did anything. A 30gb laptop drive musn't be very fast.

Is this OK..? Or should I have the real-time protection enabled?

Cheers

I use MSSE in Vista (yes pcuserwinvista I use Vista, occasionally!) and scan stuff before I transfer it to Vista in a workshop machine with NOD32 on XP.
So I guess saying none was a bit disingenuous:p;):D

873824 2010-04-07 00:06:00 Router/modem has a firewall, and I mostly use Linux anyhow, but if I am using W7, it is MSSE.

If I had Vista, I would prefer as many viruses as possible to boost the user quality of experience.
