2010-10-23 06:56:00 | Hi all, Just jumped on my flatmate's pc and its resolution is all wrong. When trying to adjust the resolution the moniter wants the resolution to be 1920 * 1080 but there is no option for this res (only 1920 * 1440). I went into the device manager and the display adapter adapter drivers aren't installed. Trying to install prompts for a cd which he doesn't have. Is there any way to find the correct drivers? Preferrably without having to open the pc case. Thanks, Roddy

2010-10-23 06:59:00 | Might help if you tell us what the system / vidcard is. Use Everest or something like PC wizard, to see whats in the case | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |

2010-10-23 07:08:00 | Is it a brand name comp? Is it integrated graphics or a separate video card? If integrated, are the motherboard drivers installed? In either case, you need to download the driver/s from the manufacturer/s website if you don't have the disks. Need more details.

2010-10-23 07:16:00 | Might be an Asrock www.asrock.com And the drivers www.asrock.com Hmm somehow I dont think that vidcard will handle / do HD. So, you need the 4-1 drivers, LAN, Audio and VGA. Forget the others, unless you use the AMR port, or RAID / the hdd in SATA

2010-10-23 07:19:00 | As speedy said, the boards 99% sure its an Asrock. Thats about the only make with that model number. | wainuitech (129) | |
2010-10-23 07:59:00 | Cheers for the help guys. I managed to install the 4 in 1 driver but when I try to install the VGA driver it spits the following error: --------------------------- S3GSetup --------------------------- Setup was unable to complete the installation. Check the progress log in your Windows directory for more details. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- I don't know where to find the progress log. So I tried to do it from device manager, pointing the installer to the directory I just downloaded, it asks for vtmini.sys so I direct it there, it tells me it hasn't passed Windows Logo testing so I click Continue Anyway. It asks for vtmini.sys so I point it again, then it tells me all these files already exist and are newer, I click replace anyway, then it spits an error saying it can't copy VTCfg3d.dll and that file isn't in the driver I just downloaded. Any ideas? Edit: If I just click cancel it gives me the option to continue install without the file, there's a bunch more files that it can't find, should I just go ahead without copying these files? I just don't want to break this computer... Cheers.
