They think food is more important than people getting their ass burnt

876643 2010-04-15 00:41:00 What relevance does her size, hold in this?
There are as many selfish, incompetent thin people, as fat
ones in my experience.

She put filling her stomach more important than running the control centre.

www.smh.com.au is unspeakably offensive, ignorant and just plain rude. And leaving aside the offensiveness, are you suggesting she should not eat? The whole issue strikes me as a politically motivated beat-up. She had a cell-phone turned on, so was in instant communication if the need arose. It is not clear to me what purpose would have been served if she had been hovering over (presumably competent) staff instead.

876648 2010-04-15 00:58:00 A fatty went to have dinner rather than do her job, is this really that unexpected?

Still not as bad as ol' Uncle Boris though. :)

876650 2010-04-15 01:11:00 Her size seems irrelivent to me, she's just trying to cover her ass. Imagine if she said "Yes, while 40 people lost their lives I had a nice dinner".

I like this line at the end;
Ms Nixon said she could have cancelled the dinner with no consequences. Ms Doyle asked why she had not. Ms Nixon said: ''Because I was very confident … that we were dealing with things.''

BUT SHE WASN'T DOING A DAMN THING.

876651 2010-04-15 01:13:00 You know back in WW2, during the invasion of Normandy, on the very eve of D-Day, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel was out celebrating his wife's birthday... They did have telephones and telegrams those days, but they could the communication going 100% and that's why we don't speak German these days.
Moral of the story, telecommunication equipment may help you, but going to a dinner and partying instead of being where you are supposed to be will result in massive [edited]
