| 875715 | 2010-04-15 12:11:00 | Perhaps FTTH? Oh, yep. Think Telecom could hook me up overnight? yeah but this has to be closer to real time than it is currently. She has a workload that she has to get done each day. I really want big time because the next plan has a 20gb cap and I have already done 20gb from the 1st. Might get Big time for a month after my cabinet is done and get her to test it and if it is too much slower than it is currently will just have to get the 20gb plan and stop downloading stuff. Maybe get this: www.snap.net.nz and get your mum to ask get her employer to pay for some of her internet connection costs, seeing as she is working from home, thus saving them money. (if Big Time isn't satisfactory enough, which I'm pretty sure it won't be.) what are you downloading? Linux Distros ;) |

| 875717 | 2010-04-15 22:52:00 | Nah it's true, it's come into effect about a week ago now, it blows ... Gonna be ringing Telecom in the AM to gripe about it and get the change reverted, it's *horrible* Funny, I haven't noticed anything different! |

| 875719 | 2010-04-15 23:07:00 | Perhaps FTTH? Except national traffic is still fine, I get max-line-speed from my VPS in Auckland CBD. The medium to my home is irrelevant ;) |

| 875722 | 2010-04-15 23:18:00 | I have a VPS and several international web hosts. All traffic from them seems to be suffering, be it on a standard Port 80, or a non-standard port, or even https traffic. It's all deteriorated. Remote-desktop to my parents place who are on an Orcon connection, fire up the connection, getting over 10m/bit ... So from 100KB peak at my place to over 1200KB/sec (Yes, over 1megabyte a second) on an Orcon connection down the road, indicates there's no issue with the international pipes or the remote server. Nationally from my VPS, it's 100%. |
