| 875837 | 2010-04-14 09:32:00 | Yourve been watching to much of the US save the day crap If Britain had fallen early in WW2 Hitler and allies would have been able to fight on only one front and take out Russia relatively easily, god "only" could help the US then because they sure as hell haddent woken up yet to start ramping up war production. Can you imagine Pearl harbour with the Germans already eyeing up Canada! Russia played a HUGE part of the counter offensive later in the war (mostly missed out in US history books and one sided movies). As a commonwealth country I find it sad to see the American perspective on WW2 is so readily accepted here. Which countries does the world owe the most gratitude, this is the real order. 1. Britain 2. Russia 3. US This sort of chap helped and of course the likes of Prefect. www.historylearningsite.co.uk |

He was a complete upper class ********. On a dip**** scale 1 being not a dip**** and 10 being a complete dip**** he would have rated in the trillions. The only reason the German guards didnt shoot him for being a dickhead was he was disabled. |

Pretty much all true he was arrogant but then that's why he was good at what he did, that's still no excuse though and I know you have some deep seated loathing of all things English fro some peculiar reason known only to you |

I can't understand why a joint statue of Dowding and Park was not proposed instead of just Park. Poor old Dowding, without him the battle would have undoubtedly or most likely been lost as Bader and Mallory would have squandered all the planes with their big wing theory. |

They only became more actively involved after Nazi Germany declared war on them. And of course Japan didn't declare war per se - they simply attacked. And with Japan and Germany being allied, it was natural that USA would fight both. Also, in my humble opinion, Russia could've eventually beaten Germany on their own. |

USA was helping the poms as best as they could with their anti war laws. Would have taken Russia while but imo they would have defeated Germany in the end. |

Not 1% known celtic in me. I am from peasant ancestry with a deep seated hatred of the class system. Bader was a pompus ass the same people who like him like Field Marshall Haig from WW1. |

I agree the Russian effort gained a lot of traction after the initial desperate effort to stop Hitlers forces. Of course they were lucky Britain was able to bunker down on there wee island and split his forces lol Just a shame the Russian effort is so played down here in the West in mainstream Hollywood movies etc. |
